Victoria Station Escalator Works

Ahead of major refurbishment work at Victoria Underground station, passengers are being asked to find other routes during the evening rush hour.

As part of the work, three escalators which run from the ticket hall to the Victoria line platforms will be taken out of service one at a time.

This is crucial to modernise this busy station and cope with increasing numbers of passengers, which are expected to rise from 80 million a year to 100 million by 2016.

Between 16:00 and 20:00 on weekdays, until January 2012:

    * There will be no ticket-issuing facilities in the ticket hall
    * Queues to enter the station are likely
    * It may take up to 15 minutes to reach the platforms

Staff will be at the station this evening to hand out leaflets advising on finding alternate routes during the works.
