How long have you worked at UK Tickets?
Almost five years.
What is your role?
I work as part of the Events Management team which involves setting up the shows and offers you see online and generally maintaining the whole 'guts' of our ticketing system.
What experience do you bring to the UK Tickets team?
Before I worked at UK Tickets I worked at a busy local box office where my interest in theatre and shows began to grow. I also learnt here the importance of customer service which carried on when I moved to UK Tickets as a customer care agent. During this time I learnt so much about west end shows and also built great relationships with box office staff. I then moved on to the trade team where I got to see another side to the business and work with our trade clients and concierges. Since then I have worked as part of the Events Management team and more recently as Deputy Ticket Manager.
Do you have a top ticket buying tip to share?
A lot of shows have a preview period before the official opening date. During this time tickets tend to be slightly cheaper than normal. This is due to the show being new and in case they have any technical difficulties etc, however the performance is usually flawless. By doing this you can save money and see a brand new show!
What is your favourite musical or play?
That would have to be Wicked.
Is there a show you would like to see return to the West End?
I'd love to see Spring Awakening come back. It was only on for a short while but it was brilliant, the cast were energetic and for an original score the songs were pretty catchy.
What is your most memorable theatre experience?
It would have to be Kerry Ellis' last performance ever as Elphaba in Wicked. It was completely sold out, fans dressed up as characters, people screamed and cheered for what seemed like forever when she walked onto the stage and it was such an emotional show all the way through with little amendments to the script to make it that more special. I will never forget it.
Who are your top actors or actresses?
Kerry Ellis of course! She has been my favourite Elphaba in Wicked, although I am absolutely loving Rachel Tucker who plays the current Elphaba. I've also really enjoyed watching Sheridan Smith on stage. I first saw her in Little Shop of Horrors and she was great. Her role as Elle in Legally Blonde was superb too.
