When Colin sadly loses his fiancé, his friends decide to rally round to cheer him up. Diana, the wife of Paul, arranges a tea party and invites Colin’s old pals John and Gordon along. Unfortunately, Gordon is ill, so his wife Marge comes instead. Evelyn, John’s wife, is invited too. She has recently had an affair with Paul, which creates plenty of sparks within the group. As the tensions start to boil over, it looks like Colin isn’t the only one in need of help. Absent friends was the first of Alan Ayckbourn’s fully realised tragic-comedies. This all-star revival is directed by the critically-acclaimed Jeremy Herrin and features a cast including: Kara Tointon (Pygmalion, EastEnders), Reece Shearsmith (The League of Gentlemen, Betty Blue Eyes) and David Armand (The Armstrong and Miller Show).
