Eurobeat

Eurobeat is the ultimate take-off of possibly the world’s most camp and beloved musical event. The Eurovision Song Contest has been throwing up all kinds of continental silliness since 1956, and the unique Eurobeat encapsulates it all in a wild and hilarious night of fully interactive entertainment.
You are welcomed to Sarajevo by your hosts for the night, friendly Bosnians Sergei and Boyka, who will then present to you a world of musical delights. Audience members are assigned a country as they enter and are furnished with flags. Unusually, the audience are encouraged to keep their mobile phones on, but on silent or vibrate. At the end of the performances, the audience then vote for their winners by text. This only costs the same as a normal text message and ensures that each evening at Eurobeat is different.
Originally broadcast in Australia in 2003, Eurobeat was a huge hit at the 2007 Edinburgh Fringe Festival and has been ecstatically received everywhere it has visited on its ongoing UK tour. Eurobeat is playing for a strictly limited ten week season at the Novello Theatre starting on 4 September 2008, although it looks to become an annual event, with next year’s show, to be set in Amsterdam, currently in development.
