The 1967 rock musical by James Rado and Gerome Ragni’s centres on a group of hippies who promote peace, love and freedom against the backdrop of the Vietnam war during the 60s. Claude, his good friend Berger, their roommate Sheila and their friends struggle to balance their lives, love interests and the sexual revolution with their rebellion against the war and their conservative parents and society. Ultimately, Claude must decide whether to resist the draft as his friends have done, or to compromise his principles and risk his life by serving in Vietnam.
The story is set to Galt MacDermot’s score which features the famous songs Aquarius, Good Morning Starshine and Let The Sunshine In, as well as the title track.
