Matthew Bourne’s Play Without Words makes its debut at Sadler’s Wells as part of New Adventures’ 25th anniversary celebration. The production is inspired by the 1963 film The Servant by Joseph Losey which tells the sinister tale of a London aristocrat who hires a manservant to fulfil all his domestic needs only to find himself falling victim to a skilled manipulator who begins to impose his own dark intentions within the house. Play Without Words tells the story purely through movement, set to an acclaimed jazz-influenced score by Terry Davies. The original show won 2003 Olivier Awards for Best Entertainment and Best Choreographer (Bourne).
