Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton star in this new production of Stephen Sondheim’s musical masterpiece Sweeney Todd, a show not seen in the West End since 2005. Set amongst Victorian London’s seedy side streets, Benjamin Barker (Michael Ball) returns from years of false imprisonment vowing revenge on those who have wronged him. He begins trading as a barber above a shop owned by Mrs Lovett (Imelda Staunton), the purveyor of the worst pies in London. The barber’s lust for vengeance soon spirals out of control, giving the ever-practical Mrs Lovett an unorthodox but delicious pie filling. Sweeney Todd is directed by Jonathan Kent, designed by Anthony Ward and choreographed by Denni Sayers.
