New adaptation of Rober Louis Stevenson’s classic adventure tale, starring Keith Allen
About Treasure Island
Ken Ludwig’s new adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic adventure tale Treasure Island premiered at the Alley Theatre in Houston, Texas in April 2007 where it played in repertory with another of Ludwig’s adaptations, An American in Paris. It opened to ecstatic reviews and became one of the theatre’s most successful productions.
The coming-of-age tale of cabin boy Jim Hawkins and his attempts to outwit the legendary Long John Silver has entertained children and adults alike since it was first serialised in Young Folks magazine in 1881. The timeless story been faithfully adapted by Ludwig who has often been praised as America’s most prolific playwright and has had enormous Broadway success with Twentieth Century, Sullivan & Gilbert, Shakespeare in Hollywood and the multi-award winning Crazy For You.
Treasure Island has adapted for the stage countless times, with over twenty major theatrical productions. This new production retains all the drama and swashbuckling action of Stevenson’s novel and stars Keith Allen in his West End debut.
Please note that due to the length of the show, it is not recommended for children under the age of 5.
