We Will Rock You breaks free to rock Britain

The smash hit Queen and Ben Elton musical We Will Rock You is going to tour the UK in 2009. Although most dates and venues have been drummed up by rumour and speculation, the show is now definitely booking at the Sunderland Empire for June 2009. Previously announced dates for Bristol later next year appear to have been withdrawn.

The touring production will have no bearing on the show’s triumphant run at the West End’s Dominion Theatre, which is currently booking well beyond the tour’s scheduled dates. We Will Rock You opened at the Dominion in May 2002 and its popularity has shown no signs of abating. The tour will feature a whole new cast and it is assumed that it will use the set and costumes from an abridged production staged at Las Vegas’ Paris Las Vegas Hotel which closed in November 2005.
