Posted by West End Dan on Tuesday 15th July 2008 at 12:29PM

After 3 months of battling it out on stage in front of millions in BBC’s I’d Do Anything Jodie Prenger has been voted into the lead role of Nancy in the musical Oliver!

Jodie will appear alongside Rowan Atkinson as Fagin and fellow winners Harry Stott, Gwion Jones and Laurence Jeffcoate who will share the role of Oliver himself having been selected by the celebrity judging panel.

Jodie, with a huge fan base in her home town of Blackpool, triumphed against other Nancy hopeful Jessie in the final show. She recently returned home to Blackpool’s town square where she was given a reception fitting of the town’s local heroine. Andrew Lloyd Webber, head judge on the TV talent show said Jodie was “the people’s Nancy”.

Oliver opens in January 2008 and tickets are onsale now.

I can't wait to see Jodie in Oliver! I think she is truly the peoples Nancy; I'm also excited about seeing Rowan Atkinson as Fagin too.
