The Nicest (Newest) Kids in Town

Today the musical phenomenon Hairspray welcomes some new faces into its cast. The role of spiteful mother and daughter Velma and Amber von Tussle will now be played by Liz Robertson and Zoe Rainey, and young Inez will be played by sixteen year old newcomer Raquel Jones.

Robertson is a veteran of musical theatre, having appeared in The Phantom of the Opera and a number of West End premieres as well as frequent roles on Broadway. Zoe Rainey was recently seen in the Donmar Warehouse’s 2007 revival of Jason Robert Brown’s Parade and has also starred in Guys & Dolls and The Woman in White.

Often referred to as the happiest show in the West End, both on stage and off, the majority of the fantastic cast of enthusiastic principle artists (including Michael Ball as Edna Turnblad) have once again renewed their contracts and are staying until April next year.
