Alexia Khadime to defy gravity once again

Posted by Jack on Tuesday 23rd December 2008 at 10:48AM

Alexia Khadime is to don the hideodious black hat and brandish the broomstick once again as she returns as Elphaba in the London production of Wicked on Monday 11 May 2009. Alexia wowed audiences when she temporarily replaced Kerry Ellis who transferred to the Broadway show in June this year and returned to London in November. During those months, Alexia gained a strong following of her own, and her last performance on 29 November sent the audience into a frenzy, leaving much bigger shoes for Kerry Ellis to fill than anybody imagined. A superb actress with perfect comic timing, Alexia developed her able voice into a powerhouse during her six months in the role and is widely regarded among the show’s international following to be one of the strongest performers to play the role.

Kerry Ellis will be leaving the production along with, reportedly, a large number of the show’s principals on 9 May 2009. Alexia Khadime will then become her permanent replacement in an open ended contract beginning on Monday 11 May 2009.
