Brian Conley as the new Edna?

 | It has been suggested that TV comedian Brian Conley will be stepping into Michael Ball's fat suit as Edna Turnblad in Hairspray. Michael Ball is due to leave the show on 25 July after the longest unbroken contarct in a single show of his twenty-five year career, and his replacement has been the subject of rumour since his first contract expired early last year. Other names mentioned have included Cheers star George Wendt who played the role on Broadway, Freddie Starr and Peter Kay. Brian Conley (left) is said to have made the announcement during a live appearance this weekend, although there has been no official confirmation yet. Watch this space! |
