Hairpsray: the New Kids?

	Gossip regarding Hairspray’s new principal line-up has settled and we are now awaiting official confirmation. Michael Ball, Ben James Ellis and Leanne Jones (Edna, Link and Tracy respectively) will all be leaving the show in July after almost two years.
	As previously reported, British comedian, actor and singer Brian Conley has been pointed to as a new Edna, and the same story appeared in the Daily Mail late last week. Conley had previously revealed that he was studying the script in an interview with the Bucks Free Press.
	Like current lead Leanne Jones, the next Tracy will be a complete newcomer to the West End stage. Chloe Hart (above left) finishes her final term at the Guilford School of Acting this year, and while no official announcement has been made, the GSA website proudly confirms that she will be taking to the Shaftesbury stage in July.
	The new Link Larkin is now said to be Liam Tamne (below left), who has been a member of the ensemble in Wicked for the past year. He has also understudied and played the role of Fiyero. While it is unclear where this theory has come from, Hairspray fans are very excited about the idea of Liam in their favourite show.
Michael Ball, Leanne Jones and Ben James Ellis will be appearing in Hairspray until 25 July 2009, with the new cast taking over on 27 July. Watch this space for official announcements. Grab tickets for the brilliant Hairspray here.
