McFadden and Mulholland join Legally Blonde cast

Susan McFadden and Aoife Mulholland are set to join the cast of Legally Blonde The Musical when it opens in December at the Savoy Theatre. They will join Sheridan Smith (Elle) , Duncan James (Warner) and Alex Gaumond (Elle’s new love interest Emmett) in the new stage production of the hit 2001 film Legally Blonde, in which Reese Witherspoon played California popular girl Elle who follows her ex-boyfriend to Harvard Law School in an attempt to win him back. | ![]() |
| McFadden who took part in ITV’s reality TV show Grease is The Word winning the lead role of Sandy in the musical Grease at the Piccadilly, will play Elle’s best friend Serena. Born in Ireland McFadden has already had several successful roles in her home country as well as currently appearing in the UK Tour of Seven Brides For Seven Brothers. Mulholland plays Brooke in the new musical, a fitness video queen accused of murdering her rich elderly husband, who becomes Elle’s first client while interning at a law firm. Mulholland fought Connie Fisher on BBC’s How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? for the role Maria in The Sound Of Music at the London Palladium. Although losing the role to Fisher, Mulholland went on to play Maria for two nights a week after Fisher fell ill. Since taking part on the show she has also enjoyed success as Roxie in Chicago. Legally Blonde the musical is directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell with music and lyrics by Nell Benjamin and Laurence O'Keefe. Songs include “Ohmigod You Guys”, “Serious”, “The Harvard Variations”, “Whipped into Shape”, “Find My Way” and “Legally Blonde." The Musical has already been a hit on Broadway winning seven Tony Award nominations. The show will be one of the few in the West End to offer a Sunday matinee with no Tuesday evening performance, with Previews from the 5th December 2009 and grand opening 13th January 2010.
