Mel C to 'Spice Up' Blood Brothers

| Spice Girl Melanie Chisholm (Melanie C) will make her West End debut in October in the long-running Willie Russell musical Blood Brothers, set in her home town of Liverpool. ‘Sporty Spice’ will play the role of harried working-class mother Mrs Johnstone, succeeding another pop singer, X Factor contestant Niki Evans. At the pinnacle of 90s ‘Girl Power’ the Spice Girls became the biggest girl band of all time, selling over 60 million records worldwide. Melanie C can count a further 3 million solo album sales and 6 top 10 singles besides that success. |

Gripping Tale for Over 20 YearsBlood Brothers was first written as a gritty school production by Merseyside wordsmith Russell in the early 1980s. The playwright subsequently rewrote the show into an Olivier Award Winning musical that has gained a large cult following since being revived by impresario Bill Kenwright. |
Mrs Johnstone a Cherished RoleThe role of Mrs Johnstone is much cherished and Melanie C will follow in the footsteps of Barbara Dickson, Kiki Dee, Lyn Paul, Siobhan McCarthy, as well as four of the Nolan Sisters. |
