Legally Blonde - The Verdict

UK Tickets were invited along to watch one of the preview showings of Legally Blonde at the Savoy Theatre this week to see what we thought of the show. |
The Verdict
| The show opens with some toe tapping, catchy tunes with brightly coloured sets gearing up for the main entrance of Elle Woods, played by Sheridan Smith (Pictured left with UK Ticket's Web Editor Joseph Durrant). The role of Elle, first played by Reese Whitherspoon in the film version, is adored by fans around the world and Smith lives up to expectations. Smith proved she has talents beyond Gavin and Stacey by singing and dancing throughout, giving the role energy. The on stage dog, Bruiser, also helps the audience love Elle even more.

The musical is fast paced, moving the story along without leaving the audience bored. Jill Halfpenny, Strictly Come Dancing winner, plays the role of Paulette, Elle Woods salon friend, who steals the show with one of the funniest song and dance routines. Boy band heartthrob Duncan James plays bad boy boyfriend Warner, but is forgiven by many in the audience due to his pleasantness on the eye.
The Show
The show is based on the 2001 hit film starring Reese Witherspoon, the story revolves around California popular girl Elle Woods who follows her ex-boyfriend Warner to Harvard Law School in an attempt to win him back after he ruthlessly dumped her for someone more serious. Elle helps friends she makes along the way, including Paulette, who is having trouble with her ex husband. |
