3D Advert a First for the Jersey Boys

Posted by Ben on Friday 12th March 2010 at 4:48PM

West End musical Jersey Boys has become the first theatre show in the world to take advantage of new 3D technology, with a cinema advert which has been shown across London and the South East.

Cinemagoers have seen the Jersey Boys perform a medley of songs in 3D effect, before screenings of Tim Burton’s new movie 'Alice in Wonderland'.

Revolutionary Campaign

The advertising campaign, by Pink Banana Studios and AKA Promotions, began before Christmas with a series of moving posters, created for London’s outdoor digital displays.

In the 3D advert, viewers wearing special glasses see titles fly out from the dramatically lit set, whisking them from the cinema audience into the Prince Edward Theatre.

AKA promotions have hailed the campaign a success, after seeing an increase in Jersey Boys ticket sales.

Jersey Boys: An Exhilarating True Story

Jersey Boys is the incredible true-life story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. The musical charts their exhilarating rise to stardom, after starting life on the wrong side of the tracks.

The road to the top wasn’t always smooth, with jealousy, mob troubles and personal problems, casting dark shadows along the way.

Hit songs such as ‘Bye Bye Baby’, ‘Can’t Take My Eyes off You’ and ‘Working my Way Back to You’ saw the group sell 100 million records and be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

The musical has been seen by over 4 million people worldwide and won 21 major theatre awards, including the Olivier Award for Best New Musical.
