Fonda In The West End?

Two time Oscar Award winning actress Jane Fonda has recently expressed she might like to bring the play 33 Variations, by Moises Kaufman, to the West End.

Jane

Fonda starred in the play on Broadway last year for a strictly limited run. The play managed to notch up 5 Tony Award nominations. The play marked Fonda's first return to Broadway after an absence of 46 years.

The Play

The play simultaneously examines the creative process behind Beethoven's ‘Diabelli Variations’ (a set of variations for the piano written between 1819 and 1823 by Beethoven on a waltz composed by Anton Diabelli) and the journey of a musicologist, Katherine Brandt, to discover the meaning behind why Beethoven was compelled to write thirty-three distinct variations on a simple theme by a nobody music publisher. The action takes place both in Beethoven's time and the present, switching back and forth between the two. However, at certain key points, characters from both time periods appear on stage to deliver lines simultaneously, emphasizing the parallels between the exploits of both sets of characters.

Although only a rumour at the moment, keep checking UKTickets for any official announcement of a transfer.
