Sheridan Smith Stays as Elle Woods

Posted by Hannah on Friday 27th August 2010 at 10:38AM

Exciting news for Legally Blonde fans as Sheridan Smith is to extend her run in the hit West End show until the New Year, in the role of trend-setter, college sweetheart and all-round heroine Elle Woods. The announcement finally quashes rumours that either Jennifer Ellison or Laura Bell Bundy (Broadway’s original Elle Woods) would take over the role this winter.

Smith, who will remain in the musical at the Savoy Theatre until 9 January 2011, said: "I absolutely love playing Elle Woods, it's been one of the highlights of my career so far, and I'm thrilled that the audiences love the show as much as I do. When Sonia (Sonia Friedman the show’s producer) asked me to stay for a little bit longer, I couldn't resist the thought of a pink, Chihuahua-filled Christmas!"

Legally Blonde

Brilliant Feel Good Comedy

Based on the 2001 hit film starring Reese Witherspoon, Legally Blonde the Musical tells the story of all-American girl Elle Woods (Sheridan Smith) who follows her ex-boyfriend Warner (Richard Fleeshman) to Harvard Law School in an attempt to win him back after he ruthlessly dumped her for someone more serious.

With plenty of twists and turns for our heroine along the way, this all-singing, all-dancing, feel good comedy proves that staying true to yourself never goes out of fashion.

Legally Blonde the Musical stars Sheridan Smith as Elle Woods, Richard Fleeshman as Warner Huntington III, Jill Halfpenny as Paulette, Peter Davison as Professor Callahan and Alex Gaumond as Emmett.
