![]() | Lee Mead was born on the 14th July 1981, in Southend-on-Sea. From a very early age, like most actors, Lee knew he wanted to be on the stage. As a boy, Lee saw a production of 'Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat' and told his grandmother “That’s who I want to be”, little did Lee know, the show would change his life. Lee landed his first job at the age of 5, singing and dancing aboard a cruise ship. Lee started to attend the Whitehall Performing Arts College, training in acting, singing and dance, but left on his own accord before graduating. His first professional job was in the touring production of Joseph, where he played the Elvis style Pharaoh and the brother Levi. |
As a talented and spirited actor, Lee went on to perform in a number of high profiled shows including The Phantom of the Opera, taking the understudy role of Raoul. He has also performed as Tommy in productions of Miss Saigon and has appeared in a number of cabaret shows. |
Any Dream Will Do
| While performing in The Phantom of the Opera, Lee auditioned for the BBC series 'Any Dream Will Do', hoping to win a six-month contract playing Joseph in the 2007 West End revival of 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat'. Lee was selected as one of the top 20 finalists, and eventually won the role nine weeks later. Audiences flocked to the theatre to see the new star in action at the Adelphi Theatre. Lee enjoyed a successful run in the show from 2007 — 2009 before starring as Lord Savile in the touring production of Lord Arthur Savile's Crime adapted by Trevor Baxter. |
Current – Wicked
Lee is due to appear in the spellbinding Wicked from the 10th May, playing the part of Fiyero. Wicked tells the incredible untold story of the Witches of Oz and how one came to be called ‘good’ and the other ‘wicked’. Based on the acclaimed novel by Gregory Maguire that re-imagined the stories and characters created by L. Frank Baum in 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz', Wicked is the story of an unlikely but profound friendship between two girls who first meet as sorcery students. Their extraordinary adventures in Oz ultimately see them fulfil their destinies as Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West. | |

Music Career
| On top of his theatre success, Lee has managed to find time to maintain a music career. His debut album 'Lee Mead' was released in 2007 with a follow up in 2009 'Nothing Else Matters'. Lee also managed to secure the number 2 spot in 2007 with the hit 'Any Dream Will Do' in aid of Children In Need. |
