Alex Gaumond Joins We Will Rock You

Alex Gaumond Ex-Legally Blonde actor Alex Gaumond will take over the role of outlaw “Galileo” in We Will Rock You at the Dominion Theatre. The Canadian-born star recently received nominations for Best Actor in a Musical at both the Whatsonstage and Oliver Awards for his performance as Elle Woods’ love interest “Emmett” at the Savoy Theatre. He joined the show after playing the part of “Galileo” in the highly successful UK tour of We Will Rock You. He will replace Ricardo Alfonso in the original version from early August 2011. Alfonso is joining the cast of Irving Berlin’s Top Hat, which is due to open the same month.

Brian May Looks Forward to Tenth Year

Speaking about Gaumond’s arrival, We Will Rock You co-creator Brian May said: “Alex is a superb actor, and his interpretation of Galileo on tour in the UK was a huge hit with audiences. We look forward to a new triumph in the Dominion, in We Will Rock You’s tenth year.”

In another boost for the production, Mazz Murray will return from maternity leave for a special two-week farewell season as the “Killer Queen” from 08th to 20th August 2011. Brenda Edwards will take a break from performances during this time but will return to continue the role.
