The Tony Award-winning musical American Idiot will play an eight-date UK tour next autumn beginning at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton on Monday 8th October 2012. The production is the musical adaptation of Green Day’s Grammy-winning 2004 album of the same title and played 422 performances at Broadway's St James Theatre between March 2010 and April 2011. The show’s book was written by Green Day’s lead singer Billy Joe Armstrong. He also performed the role of drug dealer 'St Jimmy' when he covered for fellow rock star Tony Vincent on Broadway, before replacing him for two months towards the end of the show’s run. Casting for the UK tour is still to be confirmed. |
