Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Really Useful Group are rumoured to be in negotiations to sell a number of their West End theatres. An article in Variety claims that the impresario’s company is in exclusive talks with a group headed by Michael Grade, the former chairman of the BBC, though an offer has not yet been agreed.

Four West End Theatres Under Discussion

The West End theatres under discussion are believed to be the Cambridge Theatre (home to the sizzling musical Chicago), Her Majesty’s Theatre (venue of the long-running show The Phantom of the Opera), New London Theatre (currently stabling the puppet-driven hit War Horse) and Palace Theatre (home to a delicious slice of Oz - Priscilla Queen of the Desert)

Group to Retain Share in Adelphi Theatre

Should the sale go through, the company would still retain its half share in the Adelphi Theatre (venue of Phantom sequel Love Never Dies), which is co-owned with the Nederlander Group, and the crown jewels of the West End - Theatre Royal Drury Lane (home to the brilliant revival of Oliver!) and the London Palladium (taken over by the heavenly musical Sister Act).
