Singer ‘Over the Moon’ After Winning Cherished RoleSpeaking this weekend about winning the role, Hamilton explained: “I had to audition in front of Bill Kenwright, which was slightly intimidating. The singing part went really well, but as far as the acting and gritty drama, I’ve never done anything like that before. When I got the call the next day to say I’d got the part, I was over the moon.” At 28 years old, Hamilton is the youngest ever Mrs Johnstone, though as a mother of three young children she is aware of the conflict and emotion that come with the part. The star added: “Already there’s just so much emotion there, putting yourself in her situation. I get a lump in my throat singing those songs and that’s what I want to bring to the role.” |
Atomic Kitten Success and Charity WorkAs a member of girl band Atomic Kitten, Hamilton enjoyed incredible chart success with singles including Whole Again, Eternal Flame and The Tide Is High, selling more than 12 million records worldwide. In addition to her music career, Hamilton has fronted campaigns for several high profile brands and worked on behalf of numerous children’s charities, including the Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Children in Need and The Outward Bound Trust. |
