Billy Elliot Announces November Cast Change

Billy Elliot the Musical Billy Elliot the Musical has announced a major cast change at the Victoria Palace Theatre. From Monday 14th November 2011, Ann Emery will return to play ‘Grandma’ - the role she originated in the show and played until 2010. Gillian Bevan will join as dance teacher ‘Mrs Wilkinson’; Michael Peavoy will make his West End debut as Billy’s brother ‘Tony’; and Deka Walmsley will play ‘Dad’. They will be joined by new principle cast members Sean Kearns as ‘George’ and Simon Ray Harvey as ‘Mr. Braithwaite’.

Ryan Collinson, Josh Baker and Adam Vesperman continue to alternate the role of ‘Billy’; Reece Barrett, Connor Kelly, Connor Lawson and Joe Massey alternate his best friend ‘Michael’; and Francesca Mango and Emily Williams alternate the role of ‘Debbie’. Kay Milbourne and Barnaby Meredith continue as ‘Dead Mum’ and ‘Older Billy’ respectively.

Veteran Star Returns to Play 'Grandma'

Ann Emery Ann Emery was recently seen in the West End as ‘Mother Dear’ in Betty Blue Eyes at the Novello Theatre. Her other London stage credits include My Fair Lady (National Theatre and Theatre Royal Drury Lane), Hard Times (Theatre Royal Haymarket), Hay Fever (Leicester Haymarket), Hey Mr Producer! (Lyceum Theatre), Martin Guerre (Prince Edward Theatre) and CATS (New London Theatre). She memorably played the role of ‘Mrs Meaker' in the hit BBC children’s show Rentaghost.

An Inspirational Story at the Victoria Palace

Based closely on the Oscar-nominated film, Billy Elliot the Musical tells the inspirational story of one boy's dream to realise his ambitions against the odds. Set in the North East of England against the grim background of the 1984/85 miners' strike, Billy pursues his passion for dance in secret to avoid disapproval of his struggling family. The show features music by Elton John and a book and lyrics by screenwriter Lee Hall. It has won four Lawrence Olivier Awards including Best New Musical and Best Choreography.
