Catch CHICAGO at the Cambridge

Posted by Ben on Thursday 8th October 2009 at 4:39PM

The smash-hit musical CHICAGO will celebrate its 12th Birthday in the West End in November 2009. The show is already the longest running Broadway musical in London and continues to provide thrilling entertainment night after night at the Cambridge Theatre.

When You're Good to Mama

Described in its opening number as a ‘story of murder, greed, corruption, violence, exploitation, adultery and treachery – all those things we hold near and dear to our hearts’ CHICAGO first opened in London in November 1997, running at the Adelphi Theatre for 9 years until transferring to the Cambridge Theatre in 2006.
With origins in true events, CHICAGO tells the story of chorus girl Roxie Hart who is imprisoned whilst awaiting trial for the murder of her lover, nightclub regular Fred Casely. Inside the women’s block at Cook County Jail, vaudevillian Velma Kelly is the media’s murderer-of-the-week, pushed to the top of the bill by corrupt Matron ‘Mama Morton’. Velma is not happy, especially when Roxie begins to steal not only her limelight but also her lawyer.

The multi-award winning production is a truly international show, complete with dazzling and sexy choreography and a sultry score including ‘All That Jazz’ and ‘Mr Cellophane’.

Star Names ‘Razzle Dazzle’

In June 2009 Jerry Springer made his stage debut as ‘Billy Flynn’ for a six week season. Destiny’s Child star Michelle Williams then made her West End stage debut as ‘Roxie Hart’ from July until September. CHICAGO currently features Linzi Hateley as Roxie Hart, Pia Douwes as Velma Kelly, Ian Kelsey as Billy Flynn and David Ganly as Amos Hart.
Due to its ongoing success CHICAGO has extended its booking period to 30 October 2010. BOOK HERE
