Comedy Star Joins Legally Blonde Cast

Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps actress Natalie Casey will join the cast of Legally Blonde the Musical next month. The TV comedy star, who has London stage credits including The Invisible Man at the Menier Chocolate Factory and Fame at the Shaftesbury Theatre, will take over the role of beautician “Paulette” replacing Denise Van Outen. Van Outen will leave the show on 23 April 2011, two months before her husband Lee Mead joins the production as “Emmett”. He replaces Alex Gaumond who has played the character since the musical opened in the West End at the Savoy Theatre. |
Brilliant Musical Wins Three Olivier AwardsLegally Blonde the Musical was the big West End winner at the recent 2011 Laurence Olivier Awards. The show was nominated in a number of categories and took home prizes including Best New Musical, Best Actress in a Musical (for former leading lady Sheridan Smith) and Best Supporting Role in a Musical (for Jill Halfpenny). Natalie Casey joins the West End cast of Susan McFadden (Elle Woods), Nicola Brazil (Serena), Siobhan Dillon (Vivienne), Carley Stenson (Margot) and Peter Davison (Professor Callahan). |

National Tour Beckons for Hilarious ShowSuch is the popularity of Legally Blonde the Musical in London that a national tour was announced last week, launching this summer at the Liverpool Empire from 8 to 16 July. The musical will move on to play at the Bristol Hippodrome (19 July to 6 August), the Grand Opera House, York (9 to 20 August), Edinburgh Playhouse (6 to 17 September) the New Alexandra Theatre, Birmingham (4 to 15 October) and the Opera House, Manchester (18 to 29 October).
