Deathtrap Shows the Rising Popularity of Trailers
| The West End revival of Deathtrap has received a boost according to last Friday’s Evening Standard. The paper reported how the trailer for the one-time Broadway favourite had become a viral hit after being referenced by the New York Times. The teaser shows Simon Russell Beale and Jonathan Groff speaking in character but keeping the full story of the thriller under wraps. |
More Clever Trailers, Please! With the rise of social media it seems that theatre producers are finally coming round to the idea that some visual exposure, beyond a few production photographs and an online interview with the director, isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Whilst it might be too much to expect Hollywood-style tasters on a West End budget, a little goes a long way. The more people see something the more they want to take part (as other forms of entertainment such as football have realised), so let’s hope for some more clever trailers like this in the future. |
