Dirty Dancing has posted closing notices at the Aldwych Theatre. The popular show, which opened more than four years ago in October 2006 and became the longest running show in the history of the venue, has revealed performances will cease after 09 July 2011 before embarking on a National Tour.

Producers Excited by UK Tour

The producers of Dirty Dancing said, “We have enjoyed a truly wonderful five years in London and we are very excited to be taking Dirty Dancing out on the road across the UK later this year. It has been an absolute pleasure to bring this much-loved and iconic story to life on stage night after night, and we want to thank our tremendous cast and company for making Dirty Dancing such a huge success in London.”

An Instant West End Success!

From the very beginning, Dirty Dancing on stage has been a runaway success - bringing in the highest pre-sales in London theatre history, with Friday and Saturday performances selling out up to six months in advance!

Written by the original film's creator, Eleanor Bergstein, Dirty Dancing keeps faithfully to the structure of the Academy Award-winning picture, with the famous soundtrack - including the songs "Do You Love Me?" and "(I’ve Had) the Time of My Life" - adapted into large scale music and dance numbers.

The Dirty Dancing tour will start at the Bristol Hippodrome in September 2011, before moving onto Glasgow's Kings Theatre, Manchester's Palace Theatre, Dublin's Grand Canal Theatre, Aberdeen's His Majesty's Theatre, Southampton's Mayflower Theatre and Milton Keynes Theatre. Casting details for the tour have not yet been announced.
