Further Casting Announced for Suchet Play

Further casting has been announced for Anthony Page’s production of Long Day’s Journey into Night at the Apollo Theatre, starring David Suchet (James Tyrone) and Laurie Metcalf (Mary Tyrone). Rising stage star Kyle Soller will join the show as ‘Edmund Tyrone’, the troubled son of a close-knit family that is tormented by the past and paralysed by the present. The show will play from Monday 2nd April 2012 to Saturday 18th August 2012. The Tony Award-winning comedy Jerusalem, starring Mark Rylance, is currently booking at the venue until Saturday 14th January 2012. All-Star Cast at the Apollo Theatre |

David Suchet is best known for the role of Agatha Christie's 'Hercule Poirot' - a character he has played on TV for more than 20 years! His recent London stage credits include 'All My Sons' (Apollo Theatre), Complicit (The Old Vic) and The Last Confession (Theatre Royal Haymarket). He was awarded a CBE in the Queen’s 2011 New Year Honours for services to drama. |

Laurie Metcalf is best-known for playing the sensitive underachiever ‘Jackie Harris’ in the hit ABC sitcom Roseanne. She made her British stage debut in 2001 in an Olivier Award-winning revival of Arthur Miller’s All My Sons at the National Theatre. Her film credits include Desperately Seeking Susan, Uncle Buck, Treasure Planet, Toy Story, Leaving Las Vegas, Scream 2 and JFK. |

Kyle Soller has received critical acclaim for his current role in The Faith Machine at the Royal Court with Hayley Atwell. A Pulitzer-Prize Winning DramaLong Day’s Journey into Night is Eugene O’Neill’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play which tells the story of the Tyrone family during one compelling day and night in 1912. The head of the family is James Tyrone, a 65-year-old actor who has built his reputation with one touring play but is now caught up with financial troubles. His wife, Mary, is a recovering morphine addict who is restless and anxious about the future. Their son, Edmund, has growing health problems and is awaiting a diagnosis of his constant coughing. His sibling, Jamie, worries about their mother relapsing into drug addiction and is angry that the family hid her condition from him. Each must fight their demons, their pasts and one-another as the family drifts ever closer to the abyss. |
