Gareth Gates Returns to Les Miserables

Gareth Gates rejoins the cast of Les Miserables at the Queen's Theatre today, taking over the role of 'Marius' until June 18, 2011. Gareth played the role in the show's 25th anniversary tour last year, before joining the cast of the original production from October 18 to November 20, 2010. Pantomime commitments saw the singer appear in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs over Christmas at the New Victoria Theatre in Woking. The Les Miserables cast currently includes Simon Bowman as 'Jean Valjean', Norm Lewis as 'Javert' and Rebecca Seale as 'Fantine'. |

The Bradford-born star made his West End debut in 2009 when he took over the role of 'Joseph' from Lee Mead in Andrew Lloyd Webber's popular revival of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Adelphi Theatre. He originally found fame after entering the first ever Pop Idol TV talent show, finishing as runner-up to Will Young in the final. He went on to enjoy fantastic success in the music charts, selling 3.5 million records and scoring four number one singles. |
An Epic Tale of Passion and DestructionAfter 19 years in prison, protagonist Jean Valjean is released on parole. After changing his name he rises from the gutter to become a factory owner and mayor of Montreuil-sur-Mer; though his past life cannot be left behind. Years later, the city of Paris descends into unrest and the students (including the dashing Marius) prepare for a bloody uprising.
