Jerry Springer makes stage debut in Chicago

| Almost six years after the famous opera with his name on it appeared at the Cambridge Theatre, Jerry Springer will be treading the boards there himself in Kander and Ebb's classic Chicago. An unusual casting choice, Springer is of course best known for his outrageous TV chat shows both in the US and Britain, as well as his extensive career in American politics.

However, Jerry is no stranger to the arts; as well as appearing in a number of stage productions while at university, he has also had small acting roles on American TV, as well playing himself in TV shows Roseanne, The X Files and The Simpsons as well as the movie Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me. In 1995, Jerry released an album, Dr Talk, consisting mainly of country covers, and he showed he was a fair mover when he finished fifth on Dancing with the Stars in 2006.

Jerry Springer makes his professional stage debut as Billy Flynn in Chicago on Monday 1 June 2009. No further cast changes have been announced as yet.
