Jonathan Wilkes to Join Cast of Chicago

West End star Jonathan Wilkes is to join Chicago as smooth-talking lawyer ‘Billy Flynn’ for a strictly limited seven week season from 09 May to 26 June 2011. Wilkes has enjoyed significant success on stage and on television in recent years. His theatre touring credits include ‘Frank N Furter’ in The Rocky Horror Show, ‘Jesus’ and ‘Judas’ in Godspell and ‘Khasshoggi’ in We Will Rock You. On television he has presented football programmes The Match, Soccer Aid and All Star Cup, as well as entertainment shows such as You’ve Been Framed. A talented singer, Wilkes has released an album and joined his close friend Robbie Williams on his Close Encounters Tour in 2006. |
Debbie Kurup Returns as Velma KellyWest End regular Debbie Kurup will also join the cast of Chicago from 09 May, reprising the role of celebrity murderess ‘Velma Kelly’ - a part she originally played back in 2006. Kurup was last seen in the West End as KT in Sister Act at the London Palladium. Her other London stage credits include Boogie Nights, West Side Story, Rent and Tonight’s the Night. |

Murder in the Windy CityBased on a 1926 play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, Chicago is the spectacular musical - with choreography by the legendary Bob Fosse - which tells the twisted tale of a young chorus girl named Roxie Hart who dreams of finding fame and fortune. After killing her lover in a fit of passion, Roxie is put on trial for murder and realises that becoming a celebrity criminal may just be the big break she has been searching for.
