Lee Mead hangs up his Dreamcoat
| This weekend, Lee Mead took his final bow before he hung up his Dreamcoat for good. His last performance as Joseph was watched by the show’s creators Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, who was of course instrumental in Lee getting the role in the first place, leading the BBC talent search Any Dream Will Do. One of the judges, and Lee’s girlfriend, Denise Van Outen was also in the audience. After the finale, Lee was joined onstage by Lloyd Webber who expressed his thanks before Lee was ceremoniously stripped of the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. Lee was then mobbed by fans at the Adelphi Theatre’s stage door as left the building. What’s next for Lee Mead has not yet been announced, but he has been involved in workshops for the hit 1970’s musical Billy. Pop star Gareth Gates takes over the role on 9 February 2009. In the meantime, Joseph will be played by Ricky Rojas. |
