Les Miserables on the Boyle

Posted by Roz on Thursday 6th August 2009 at 10:45AM

Boyle Mania!
Since her debut in Britain’s Got Talent, performing the classic song “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserables, Susan Boyle has triggered a resurgence of interest in this long running West End show.

It’s a sell out
Thanks to the ‘Boyle effect’, ticket sales for the West End show have increased dramatically since her first appearance in front of Simon Cowell. Many theatre-goers are also returning to the show, as Susan’s performance evoked fond memories of their last trip. Boyle’s version of Fantine’s song has attracted more hits on You Tube than any other clip. There are rumours of Boyle joining the cast, if these are true then the producers are going to need a bigger theatre to accommodate Boyle’s legions of new-found fans.

Heart-warming
Just like Susan, Les Miserables has touched the heart of its audiences as one of the most moving productions ever to hit the West End stage.  Now in its 23rd year, Les Miserables is the world’s longest running musical. This deeply moving and popular show is packed full of romance, passion, obsession and revenge and it is clear to see why the show has stood the test of time. Brought to life by breathtaking music and sensational acting, the ‘Boyle effect’ means Les Miserables is once again the hottest ticket in the West End.
