Andrew Lloyd Webber Andrew Lloyd Webber is planning to fund the education of 30 performing arts students over the next three years, according to reports in the national media. The theatre impresario will fund ten scholarships a year at some of Britain’s leading arts colleges such as the Royal Academy of Music and the Central School of Speech and Drama. The scholarships will be funded through his Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation and help talented students from less affluent backgrounds pay tuition fees that can be as high as £13,000 a year.

Foundation Supports a Wide Range of Projects

The Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation was established in 1992 to promote the arts, culture and heritage for the wider public benefit. The charity received a significant boost last year when Lord Lloyd Webber sold a Picasso painting (The Absinthe Drinker) and decided that the windfall of £32M would fund numerous good causes and projects.

Last month, the Trustees of the Foundation agreed a one-off £250,000 donation to fund the work of Nordoff Robbins at their Music Therapy Unit based in the grounds of the BRIT School in Croydon, South London. Nordoff Robbins delivers music and music therapy to people with conditions such as autism, dementia, stroke and terminal illness.

Other recent beneficiaries include the Orpheus Centre – arts bursaries at a performing arts college for disabled young adults, the Haringey Shed – refurbishment of new premises for an inclusive performing arts group, the Chickenshed Theatre Company – a one off donation to provide funding towards a BTEC education initiation and the All Saints Church, Margaret St, London – ongoing refurbishment to the buildings ornate interior.
