Marti Pellow will return to the West End next month after being cast as ‘The Narrator’ in Blood Brothers at the Phoenix Theatre. The Wet Wet Wet singer will take over the role for a limited season from Tuesday 1st November 2011. He has recently been seen performing the title role in a musical version of Jekyll and Hyde - which toured the country for eight months between autumn 2010 and summer 2011. He memorably made his West End debut in 2002 playing the part of smooth-talking lawyer ‘Billy Flynn’ in Chicago - a character he subsequently reprised on Broadway and on a UK national tour. |
Award Winning Singer SongwriterMarti Pellow rose to fame in the 1980s as the lead singer of Scottish pop group Wet Wet Wet. The band enjoyed incredible chart-topping success and released three of the UK’s best-selling number one singles of all time - including the record-breaking song ‘Love is All Around’. He embarked on a successful solo career after the band split up in the late 1990s and made his musical theatre debut in Chicago at the Adelphi Theatre in 2002. His other stage credits include The Witches of Eastwick and Chess in Concert. Captivating Drama at the Phoenix TheatreBlood Brothers is one of the West End’s longest running musicals and has been entertaining London theatregoers since the mid 1980s. The show was originally written as a school play by Liverpool writer Willy Russell but was soon adapted into a full scale musical by the multi-talented playwright. The story of twin boys separated at birth and growing up on either side of the class divide remains as poignant today as it was 25 years ago. The iconic character of Mrs Johnstone has been played by no less than four of the Nolan sisters, whilst the parts of the twin brothers - Mickey and Eddie - remain two of the most sought after roles in theatre. |
