Michael Crawford Stays in Oz

Michael Crawford has extended his run as 'The Wizard' in Andrew Lloyd Webber's ‘The Wizard of Oz’. The veteran West End star, who is appearing in the musical alongside ‘Over the Rainbow’ winner Danielle Hope, was only scheduled to play the role until the 4th September 2011 but will now stay with the show through to Sunday 5th February 2012. Crawford is perhaps best-known for originating the title roles in both the London production of 'Barnum' and 'The Phantom of the Opera'; as well as playing the hapless 'Frank Spencer' in the BBC sitcom 'Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em'. |
Magical Musical at the London PalladiumThe Wizard of Oz opened at the London Palladium on 1st March 2011, where it has received solid reviews from the critics and excellent audience feedback. Based on the popular children’s novel by L. Frank Baum, the magical musical tells the story of a Kansas farm girl named Dorothy (Danielle Hope) who finds herself dropped into the Land of Oz after a freak tornado sweeps up her house. After meeting Glinda, the Good Witch of the North, Dorothy learns that in order to get home she must travel along the yellow brick road to the Emerald City and ask for the help of the all-powerful Wizard (Michael Crawford). The Wicked Witch of the West (Hannah Waddingham) stands in Dorothy’s way, desperate to take back a pair of enchanted ruby slippers. Now Booking into 2012The Wizard of Oz matinee performances are held on Weds and Sat at 2.30pm and Sun at 3pm. Evening performances are on Weds to Sat at 7.30pm and Tues at 7pm. |
