Pippin Confirms Additional Casting

The final cast members have been announced for the musical revival of Pippin at the Menier Chocolate Factory, which is currently booking until Saturday 25th February 2012. Gay Soper (Lend Me A Tenor, Les Miserables and Godspell) and Josie Lawrence (Acorn Antiques, Much Ado About Nothing, The King & I) will play the role of ‘Berthe’ (the grandmother of the young protagonist), with Soper replacing Caroline Quentin from Monday 24th January 2012. Louise Gold (Oliver!, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang) will also return at the end of January and for the last two weeks of the show's run. |
A Memorable Coming-of-Age MusicalThe full schedule for the part of ‘Berthe’ is now as follows: Caroline Quentin until 22nd January 2012; Gay Soper (24th January – 29th January); Louise Gold (30th January – 05th February); Josie Lawrence (07th - 12th February) and Louise Gold (14th - 25th February 2012). The cast will continue to include Henry Hepple as ‘Pippin’, Frances Ruffelle as ‘Fastrada’, Ian Kelsey as ‘Charlemagne’ and Matt Rawle as ‘The Leading Player’. When the Game Ends and Life BeginsPippin is a pop-rock musical with a book by Roger O. Hirson and music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked). The coming-of-age story follows the adventures of Pippin, heir to the throne of Charlemagne, who has ambitions of doing something astonishing but finds that fate’s twists and turns lead his life in unexpected directions. Director Mitch Sebastian’s contemporary revival transports the action into a cyberspace world, with spectacular designs by Timothy Bird and costumes from Jean-Marc Puissant. |
