Play Closures

Posted by Joseph on Wednesday 4th November 2009 at 12:33PM

Two promising plays Prick Up Your Ears and The Shawshank Redemption have both announced they will be closing early.

Prick Up Your Ears

The play was originally to run until the 6th December but will now close early on the 15th November. The play has been plagued with problems since it opened with lead star Matt Lucas leaving the production just a few days after the press night due to the death of his former partner. Since then the sales at the box office have not been sufficient to keep the show running.

Prick Up Your Ears focuses on the private lives of playwright Joe Orton and his lover Kenneth Halliwell, and the events that led Halliwell to murder Orton in 1967. This is your last chance to see this show, book your tickets here now.

The Shawshank Redemption

The Shawshank Redemption has also announced an early closure. The play was originally scheduled to perform unil the 14th February, but will now close on the 29th November.

Shawshank was originally written by famed author Stephen King and adapted for the big screen in 1994. When The Shawshank Redemption opened at the Wyndhams Theatre this year it was the first time the story had been staged professionally. The cast is led by US television stars Reg E. Cathey and Kevin Anderson.

If you have not booked to see this fantastic play, now is your last chance. Book your tickets here now.
