Pop Idol Darius Campbell Returns to Chicago!

Darius Campbell (previously known as Darius Danesh) will return as smooth talking attorney ‘Billy Flynn’ when Chicago reopens in the West End at the Garrick Theatre on Monday 7th November 2011. Darius, who rose to fame as a finalist on ITV’s Pop Idol in 2001, became the youngest actor to play the role in the hit musical when he joined the cast in 2005 at the age of 25. His other stage credits include the roles of ‘Sky Masterson’ in Guys and Dolls at the Piccadilly Theatre in 2007 and ‘Rhett Butler’ in Trevor Nunn's musical adaptation of Gone with the Wind in 2008. |

Chicago reopens next month with an all-star cast, including Ugly Betty actress America Ferrera making her West End debut as ruthless showgirl ‘Roxie Hart’ and Amra-Faye Wright as ‘Velma Kelly’. The show will begin its 15th successive year in the West End when it celebrates its birthday on Friday 18th November 2011. It is London’s longest running American musical with a riotous book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, and sizzling musical numbers including All That Jazz, When You're Good to Mama and Cell Block Tango. |
A Show that Always Razzle-DazzlesShowgirl Roxie Hart commits a cold-blooded murder whilst cheating on her husband, which causing quite a stir in the gossip capital that is the ‘Windy City’ of Chicago. Whilst awaiting trial in an all-female cellblock, Roxie realises that her newfound notoriety might just give her career an unexpected lift. Soon, with the help of an unscrupulous lawyer, the press are razzle-dazzled and Roxie looks set for the top. However, fellow murderess Velma Kelly isn’t too happy about the pretty young upstart who is stealing her limelight. Chicago is now booking until Saturday 26th January 2013 at the Garrick Theatre. |
