S Club Star is a Jersey Boy
| Jon Lee, one of the original members of pop group S Club 7, will join the hit West End musical Jersey Boys from 15 March 2011. Lee will alternate the role of ‘Frankie Valli’ with Ryan Molloy, who continues in the production for a fourth year. The announcement quashes speculation that Wicked actor Lee Mead had been lined up for the role. |

Chart-Topping Star Returns to Musical TheatreJohn Lee achieved chart-topping success as a member of girl and boy pop band S Club 7. After being created by former Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller, S Club 7 rose to fame in the late 1990s with their own BBC television series. Over the five years they were together the group had a string of number one singles and recorded four studio albums. They won BRIT awards in 2000 for British breakthrough act and in 2002 for best British single. After S Club 7 disbanded, Lee returned to his childhood roots of musical theatre, (he played the title role in Oliver at the London Palladium when he was 13), appearing in West End productions of Les Misérables and Fame. He recently performed as part of the Les Miserables 25th birthday concert at the O2 Arena. |
