Broadway’s Most Successful ExportChicago reopened in London at the Garrick Theatre on Monday 7th November 2011 after closing at its previous home, the Cambridge Theatre, in August 2011 to make way for Matilda the Musical. The production celebrated its fourteenth West End birthday soon after (18th November), and, as the longest running American musical outside of the United States, now holds the title of the most successful Broadway export ever! Chicago is based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, with a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. The show is choreographed by Ann Reinking in the style of Bob Fosse and directed by Walter Bobbie. |
