Sophie Evans Gets the Ruby Slippers!

Sophie Evans will take over the role of ‘Dorothy’ from Danielle Hope in The Wizard of Oz when the Over the Rainbow winner steps down from the hit musical next month. Evans, who is currently understudying the role at the London Palladium, used her Twitter account to reveal that she will step into the famous ruby slippers full-time from Tuesday 7th February. Michael Crawford is also standing down (final performance with Danielle Hope on Sunday 5th February) but there has been no confirmation of his replacement, although Strictly Come Dancing’s Russell Grant has been linked with the show. |

Based on the ever popular MGM screenplay (adapted from the children’s novel by L. Frank Baum), this magical family musical tells the story of a Kansas farm girl (Dorothy) who finds herself dropped into the Land of Oz after being caught up by a terrible tornado. After meeting Glinda, the Good Witch of the North, Dorothy learns that in order to get home she must travel the yellow brick road to the Emerald City and ask for the help of the all-powerful Wizard.
