Spielberg Film on Location in Wiltshire
|
New Steven Spielberg film War Horse has taken over a small Wiltshire village this week, as the big budget production continues to shoot some early scenes. After filming on Dartmoor last month, a crew of 300 extras and 30 horses have rolled up in picturesque Castle Combe, which is standing in as a period Devon village. |

Village Back on the Big ScreenLocal residents are not strangers to Hollywood film crews, with Castle Combe making several big screen appearances over the years – including Rex Harrison’s 1967 Doctor Doolittle and, more recently, in fantasy adventure Stardust starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Sienna Miller. Fiona Francombe, a Production Liaison Manager from South West Screen said: "A lot of location managers are aware of Castle Combe. It's had quite lot of filming in the past and so we had less to do with selling it. I think it sold itself." |
Film Due For Release in 2011A team of set dressers moved in at the weekend to transform the village into a 1914 setting, with street stalls and flowers springing up in the main street. It is rumoured that stars including Emily Watson and David Thewlis will be staying at the local Castle Inn Hotel. Filming will continue on location until the end of September with the finished film scheduled for release sometime in August 2011. |
