Success for Jerusalem in Critics Circle Awards
The Critics Circle Theatre Awards took place yesterday, with recognition for some fantastic performances and productions. Jez Butterworth’s Jerusalem won Best New Play, with Mark Rylance taking Best Actor for his role in the show. Jude Law and Rachel Weisz were honoured for ‘Hamlet’ and ‘A Street Car Named Desire’, whilst Rupert Goold won Best Director for Enron. |

Jerusalem Makes West End TransferJerusalem is transferring to the West End, where it will open at the Apollo Theatre with previews from 28 January 2010. The cast includes Mackenzie Crook, Mark Rylance and Aimee-Ffion Edwards. Mark Rylance, the former Artistic Director of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, plays rogue ‘Johnny Byron’ a modern day Pied Piper. On St George’s Day the local fair is in town but Johnny Byron is a wanted man. Jerusalem is a comic look at rural life in our green and pleasant land. |

Enron Transfers from Royal CourtEnron has recently transferred to Noel Coward Theatre and is booking till May 2010. Based on real life, and using music and video, the play sheds fresh light on the financial scandal that brought the American energy giant to its knees. Directed by Rupert Goold, Enron stars Tim Pigott-Smith as disgraced CEO Kenneth Lay. Enron transfers following sell-out seasons at the Royal Court and Minerva Theatre. |
