Entertaining London Audiences Since 2006Since opening in the West End in September 2006, the multi award-winning production has become the longest running consecutive show in the 136 year history of the Criterion Theatre. A brilliant remake of the classic Alfred Hitchcock film, The 39 Steps sees dashing hero Richard Hannay caught in a game of cat and mouse from London to Scotland. All the legendary scenes from the movie appear in the play - include the chase of the Flying Scotsman, the escape on the Forth Bridge and the first theatrical bi-plane crash ever staged! |
A Thrilling Tale with a Wicked TwistPursued by enemy agents and carrying a secret that could save King and country, Hannay must solve the mystery of The 39 Steps in order to acquit himself and stop a war. Yet the most trying part of the whole tale are the women he encounters, especially Pamela, his unwilling companion to whom he ends up handcuffed during his daring escape. A cast of four actors plays 139 characters in 100 minutes. Ex-Wicked star Dianne Pilkington appears in the roles of Annabella Schmidt, Pamela and Margaret. David Bark-Jones is Richard Hannay, whilst Timothy Speyer and Jeremy Swift are Man one & two. |
