The Fantasticks Early Closure

Posted by Hannah on Monday 14th June 2010 at 10:28AM

The Fantasticks, play at the Duchess Theatre, has announced an early closure of 26 June 2010. The show was originally scheduled to run until the 4 September 2010.

Broadway Success

The show has been a big hit on Broadway on and off for over 40 years but has once again failed to capture the theatregoers of the West End. The latest production only officially opened last Wednesday (9 June) with a string of previews from May. The show will close even though the show had a strong cast, including Olivier Award winner Clive Rowe and Edward Petherbridge.

The Show

The Fantasticks is based on the French play ‘The Romancers’ by Edmond Rostand, telling the story of two neighbours who build a wall between their homes so that their children will be destined to fall in love. Music by Harvey Schmidt and lyrics by Tom Jones and includes the song ‘Try to Remember’.
