The Stage - Theatre Top 100 Announced

Theatre industry newspaper The Stage has announced it's annual top 100 guide to the most influential people in British theatre. The Ambassador Theatre Group, headed by husband and wife team Howard Panter and Rosemary Squire, top the list for the second year in succession. Meanwhile, for the first time in the list's 15 year history, neither Cameron Mackintosh or Andrew Lloyd Webber are placed in the top two, with three men from the subsidised theatre sector - Dominic Cooke, Michael Grandage and Nicholas Hytner - sharing joint second place. Sir Cameron and Sir Andrew slip to fifth and sixth place respectively. |

The Ambassador Theatre Group operates more theatres in London and the regions than any other organisation. Legally Blonde Star Breaks the Top 20! |

New entries in this year's top 20 include Sheridan Smith, the out-going star of Legally Blonde at the Savoy Theatre. Smith, who was recently nominated for 'Best Actress in a Musical' in the Whatsonstage Awards, joins Mark Rylance as only the second performer in the top 20! Other performers who make the overall list include All My Sons stars David Suchet and Zoe Wannamaker and Deathtrap actor Simon Russell Beale. A number of newer faces are also named, with Benedict Cumberbatch and Love Never Dies actor Ramin Karimloo making it into the top 100. |
